The SA 312 helicopter series is a small utility helicopter with a French origin manufactured by Sud Aviation, a predecessor company of Airbus Helicopters. This helicopter first flew in 1955, so it has been around forever. Over the years, it has been widely applied under various circumstances due to its robust design. From giving rides to people and goods, providing support for disasters, and carrying out military missions, it has played notable roles.
The SA 312 boasts one of the most impressive blade systems of any current production aircraft. The helicopter features specialized rotor blades that would keep it airborne with stability and balance. This stability is essential for safe flying, particularly during tricky maneuvers. The helicopter also features a special tail structure known as a fenestron, revolving inside a ring. That design cuts down on noise, so it’s quieter when it flies. So just imagine all the things today that make it easier to fly, the cockpit modern instruments and tools to assist and help the pilot not just fly but do it safely and effectively.
Now, the SA 312 remains a popular helicopter in many areas as well as being included into military service, and rescue missions. Its small size and agility make it ideal for flying in tight spaces and through difficult terrain. During emergencies, for example, the SA 312 can quickly transport people and supplies to where bigger helicopters might not get to.
The SA 312 helicopter has also carved out an important place in aviation history, aside from its practical uses. As far as history goes, it was the first helicopter ever to perform thrilling maneuvers such as loop-the-loops, barrel rolls, or even looping backwards! Such abilities make the SA 312 a crowd favorite at airshows. The plane remains a draw at airshows and such today, delighting people of all ages.
It must be noted that the speed and range of the helicopter are also commendable too. It requires no runways, and these traits make it a great vehicle for search and rescue missions and military operations. It is small and highly agile to enable penetration through complex land and tight places, which is important in disaster relief operations where speed is of the essence.
I have flown the SA 312 in all kinds of situations from military missions to airshow flying. Every time that I fly it, I am always blown away by how well it flies. It is ideal for moving people and supplies over long distances, thanks to its speed and long range. And, the low size, enables me to make use of it even limited spaces, which is so useful during congested areas or during urgent recovery situations.
Safety is one of our top priorities at Huitong. Flying can be a scary experience for some people, and we strive to keep everyone safe and secure when traveling with us. Working these same characteristics into the army by having their helicopters corporate build as the SA 312 are dependable not to mention, works for a variety of flying tasks with military missions, emergency rescues to airshows entertaining the masses.
